Camera Installation

In Roland Consult Systems, we use or have used various camera types by different manufactures. All of the types still in field use, we have to support our customers. This article should help with the main techniques and problems.

Overview

  • IDS – most common used and stable in all Windows Version; more expensive then others; must in V10
  • Hercules – supported only on old Win XP/ Win 7 32bit systems; will likely crash on newer Mainboards and often with Win 10
  • Labtec – all Win Versions
  • Speedlink – replacement of Hercules, also works on all Windows Versions
  • (generic) USB Cameras, analog BNC Cameras

Purpose

Cameras are used for monitoring the eye/eyes of the patient. They are installed infront of the Stimulation Monitor or inside the Ganzfeld Globe.

See this article to identify your Hardware via the Device Manager.

Types

IDS

We need always to install the Version 4.2 – which includes the necessary ActiveX-Control. After this, we can upgrade to a newer Version. If you have a 32bit OS, use the 32bit otherwise the 64bit version.

To get more stable images from the camera and reduce hangups, some settings may help:
