Identify Hardware via Device Manager

How do you identify hardware on Windows 10 machines used by Roland Consult? This short guide should answer you questions.

Use the Device Manager to view installed and connected Hardware and peripheral devices, identify wrong drivers, unknown devices, Device driver not found.

New Windows installations often doesn’t find Mainboard drivers. Use Tool CPU-Z to identify your installed Mainboard without opening the PC-Case.

Identify your Device

To load the correct driver, you have to identify your Device. Select the Device in the Device Manager, and right-click to open the context menu. Then choose Properties. Scroll or select the Property “Device instance path” and copy the Value. In the Images below, for example, we need the Information VID and PID. With your favorite search engine, search for this and any information you have about the device (like ‘Speedlink’ and ‘driver’).

DO NOT FOLLOW OR DOWNLOAD EXTERNAL TOOLS – try to load direct from the manufacture site (Dell, Asus, IDS) or drivers provided by us – if using hardware received from us.
